About the vaccine

You should get vaccinated at least two weeks before travel to high-risk areas.

The vaccine is available in two forms:
Injection – a single dose.
Oral capsules – a course of three capsules taken on alternate days.

A booster is recommended every three years if you remain at risk.

An injection in the upper arm or oral capsules taken with water.

Side effects can include mild fever, headache, nausea, and soreness at the injection site.

The injectable vaccine is suitable for children over the age of two, while the oral vaccine is suitable for children over the age of six.

Practise good food and water hygiene, including drinking bottled or purified water and avoiding raw or unwashed food.

Typhoid can cause high fever, weakness, stomach pain, and severe digestive complications, which can be life-threatening if untreated.
