Measles, Mumps, and Rubella Vaccination
About the vaccine

You should receive the vaccine at least two weeks before travel if you have not been fully vaccinated.

The course consists of two doses, given at least four weeks apart.

No further boosters are required after completing the two-dose course.

An injection in the upper arm.

Side effects can include mild fever, rash, temporary joint pain, and soreness at the injection site.

The vaccine is suitable for children over the age of one, with the second dose given before school age.

Avoid close contact with infected individuals in areas where measles, mumps, or rubella outbreaks are common.

Risk if you contract measles, mumps, or rubella:
Measles can cause fever, rash, cough, and complications such as pneumonia and brain inflammation.
Mumps can lead to painful swelling of the salivary glands, fever, and in some cases, meningitis or infertility.
Rubella is usually mild but can cause serious birth defects if contracted during pregnancy.
