About the vaccine

You should start the vaccination course at least one month before travel if possible.

The course consists of three doses, typically given over six months. In some cases, an accelerated schedule of four doses over one month may be used.

Most people do not require boosters after completing the full course. However, a booster may be recommended for those at ongoing risk.

An injection in the upper arm.

Side effects can include soreness at the injection site, mild fever, headache, and tiredness.

The vaccine is suitable for newborns and older.

Practise good hygiene and avoid unprotected sex, needle sharing, or exposure to blood and bodily fluids, especially in high-risk areas.

Hepatitis B can cause liver inflammation, which may lead to chronic infection, liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, and organ failure.
